Milk Bread Hot Dog Buns
I’m finally sharing my milk bread recipe! In a later post, I’ll go over how to shape this dough into buns and sandwich loaves, but today we’re focusing on hot dog buns.
This batch came together pretty last minute. I wasn’t doing much, got a craving for japadogs, and figured—why not make my own buns? If you’re used to making bread, this will feel pretty straightforward. But if this is your first time, I’ll be honest—it might feel a little tricky. Don’t worry, though. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature.
I’ve been developing this recipe for about two years. I tweak it depending on whether I’m making donuts, hamburger buns, or cinnamon rolls. It’s super versatile and easy to personalize.
This time around, I was kind of lazy with shaping—I didn’t measure anything precisely. So the buns ended up a little big, and I just trimmed the ends off after baking to make them hot dog-sized. (I turned the leftover bits into a milk bread pudding—recipe coming this weekend.) Note: The recipe is adjusted to shape the buns into the right size, I just skipped that part when making them this time.
Alright, let’s get into it.
