Earlier this week, I was craving a Mcdonald’s breakfast sandwich, but with the recent E.coli concerns, I decided to make my own version at home. This homemade version includes flaky buttermilk biscuits, maple sausage patties, soft scrambled eggs, grilled onions, and a copycat Mcdonald’s breakfast sauce.Â
McDonald’s breakfast sauce isn’t my recipe, but I found it on Reddit. Whenever I want to try a copycat sauce from a famous fast food restaurant, I know a goat employee is going to leak the recipe on Reddit.Â
Notes:
Biscuits
Biscuit Substitution: If short on time, canned biscuits work in a pinch.
Cold Butter: Use cold butter for flaky, airy biscuits.
Don’t Overwork the Dough: Handle gently to avoid developing too much gluten.
White Lily Flour: For best results, use White Lily flour.

Buttermilk Biscuits
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour, self-rising flour, or White Lily flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
¾ cup cold buttermilk
¼ tsp baking soda
7 tbsp cold butter
2 tbsp heavy cream (for brushing)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Whisk dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar) in a large bowl.
Cut in butter with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add buttermilk to the center of the mixture and stir gently until just combined.
Turn dough out onto a floured surface and shape into a rectangle.
Folding: Fold the rectangle in thirds, turn 90°, and repeat twice for a total of 3 folds.
Pat dough to ½–¾ inch thickness and cut out biscuits.
Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment (for metal sheets). Press an indent into each biscuit’s center.
Brush with heavy cream and bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Maple Sausage Patties
Ingredients:
1 lb ground pork
¾ tsp salt
1 tsp dried sage
½ tsp thyme
1 tsp onion powder
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions:
Mix ingredients in a bowl with your hands.
Shape into patties slightly wider than the biscuits, indenting the center to prevent doming.
Cook in a lightly oiled pan over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes per side.
Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
McDonald's Copycat Sauce

½ cup mayonnaise (Kewpie or heavy-duty preferred)
2 tbsp mustard

Soft-Scrambled Eggs
Ingredients:
Eggs, milk, salt, pepper
Cheese slices (optional)
Instructions:
Whisk eggs, milk, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Melt 1 tbsp butter in a nonstick pan over medium-low heat.
Pour in egg mixture and stir slowly, adding cheese slices if desired, until slightly set and moist.
Grilled Onions
Ingredients:
1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 tbsp butter
Instructions:
Melt butter in a pan over medium-low heat.
Add onions and cook slowly until sweet and browned.
Assembly
Cut biscuits in half.
